July 7th, 2018

Called Speakers

Michael Gormley (GOMER)

Michael Gormley who has been fondly called Gomer since the 10th grade is married to his beautiful wife Shannon and they have four children under the age of six (so he doesn’t sleep much). Gomer has been part of the AMU Youth Conferences since its beginning and uses the gift of humor to share the knowledge and grace of the Holy Spirit with young people and adults all over the country in order to evangelize and catechize those belonging to the new evangelization. More about Mike Gormley’s ministry can be found at

Father ERIC Scanlan

Father Eric Scanlan serves as the Vocations Director for Diocese of Venice. Fun Fact: Fr. Eric is the son of Brian Scanlan, our Fearless Conference Center Director!

Joseph Traver

Joseph Traver is biochemistry student at Ave Maria University. Joe served as a missionary for three years with NET Ministries, putting on over 350 retreats across the United States. In addition to being a nomad for Jesus, Joe has worked as a chef and baker. Joe loves coffee, corgis, chicken nuggets, and all things Catholic.

We have blocked off rooms at the Hampton Inn (off of Exit 111) on Immokalee Rd for the Youth Conference at a Special Rate of $94 per room per night. The Hampton Inn is located just 30 minutes from the University! Each room can comfortably sleep four people. This means that nearby lodging agreements will only be an additional $23.50 per person for one night or $47.00 for two nights. The conference will conclude late Saturday night (9pm) so we understand that it might be more convenient for groups to stay Friday and Saturday night.

Rooms can be booked through this link:
