The Student Life Working Group of The Cardinal Newman Society continues to engage senior Student Life officials of faithful Catholic colleges and universities in conversations and collaboration to promote best practices that strengthen the Catholic identity of their institutions. As part of this collaboration and conversation, this conference will convene on the campus of Ave Maria University, May 21 – 23, 2018. The Newman Society appreciates all the preparatory work for this conference by Kimberly King and her staff at Ave Maria University.

This conference is for senior and middle-management student life leaders of the colleges that participate in the work of The Cardinal Newman Society. Specifically, we hope that each college can at least send its vice presidential-level student affairs leadership along with the dean of students, directors of resident life, residence directors, student activities directors, mental health professionals, campus ministry leadership and staff.

If you are flying, Ave Maria University Student Life Shuttle Service will be available to pick you up from Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, FL on Monday, May 21st and then assist in returning you to the airport on Wednesday May 23rd.  The airport is about 45 minutes from campus. To make this work, please send your flight information to Michael Wright NLT than May 10th. He can be reached at michael.wright@avemaria.edu. We will contact you with details on where to meet the transportation. Often you can get flights into Fort Lauderdale International Airport at a significantly cheaper price. If you are flying to Fort Lauderdale, you should rent a car and drive over to AMU (about 70 minutes away).
If you are driving, your GPS will direct you to our campus. Signs will direct you to the registration in Xavier Hall Guest House, 5281 Dolan St., Ave Maria 34142.

Guests will be housed in our campus residence halls. All rooms include twin-size beds with bedding and towels included (fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, pillow, towel and wash cloth) with some smaller amenities included.  Single and double rooms are available.

Please feel free to contact Vivian Crockett, Director of Residence Life, with any questions or special arrangement requests at vivian.crockett@avemaria.edu or 239-280-2542.

Dr. Jolene Erlacher founded Leading Tomorrow in 2013 with the aim of equipping churches, businesses, schools, mission agencies and other organizations for effective inter-generational leadership in an evolving culture. Her passion for equipping a new generation of leaders emerged from various leadership experiences in education and ministry.

Jolene worked for eight years at North Central University, specializing in leadership training, student development and personnel management. During that time, she identified the need for building awareness of generational differences as young leaders entered the workplace, especially in ministry contexts.  This began an extended journey of researching the experiences and needs of Millennials in ministry positions.  Her book, Millennials in Ministry (Judson Press) was released September 1, 2014 and documents her findings.  Most recently, Jolene served as a team consultant with Sync Leadership Development.  Jolene specializes in providing training and consulting on team effectiveness and inter-generational leadership. She works with community organizations, government agencies, churches, mission agencies, and small businesses. Jolene teaches continuing education courses for Eduspire (www.eduspire.org). She is also an adjunct faculty member and teaches graduate courses on Organizational Leadership at North Center University (www.northcentral.edu).

Jolene's education background includes degrees in Education and English, and a graduate certificate in International Leadership.  Her doctorate is in Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.  She has also completed training on the StrengthsFinder assessment through Gallup Consulting and studied freelance writing at the Loft Literary Center.

Jolene is fluent in Spanish and has volunteered and studied in various countries including Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Kenya, and South Africa.  She is actively involved in her local church and community.  Jolene lives in central NC with her husband, twin daughters and their dog Rex.  She enjoys reading, writing and drinking coffee.
